Are the Warren people finally giving up their dream and backing Bernie? Wow that's impressive.

Wow, he raised more than any of the GOP candidates did on their first day.

So much for Hillary's opposition being total jokes, at least in terms of money.

He got a lot of media coverage on Thursday, which is excellent for online fundraising. I'm not sure when he'll get another day like that though. Could be months; the press has their hands full covering the GOP race, and Clinton is going to ignore him. I think it's more likely than not they never appear on stage together.

If Sanders reports raising less than $25 million on his July filing, he's not going to be able to do much more than make some noise. He'll need at least $75-$100 million before the end of 2015 to have any shot at all. Clinton has had dozens of organizers on the ground in early states since the day she announced, and it's going to be tough for Sanders to duplicate/exceed in less time with less money the work she's doing there. And success in the early states would just buy him a ticket to the multi-state, TV-ad stage of the primaries.

I do like the guy though. He's a real character, and I'm sure his campaign will be both educational and entertaining.

Nah. The democratic party has already insisted on debates between Clinton and her opponents. It's going to happen, just a matter of how many.

DWS is not relevant to this process; no one with power likes her

eta: also, Pelosi did not offer support for formal debates when asked this week: http://thehill.com/homenews/house/240648-pelosi-welcomes-sanders-to-2016-race

I'm not saying they're definitely not going to happen. But this ain't something Clinton needs to do; she can take the hit and still lead by a huge margin

The party faithful want debates. And, they're basically free prime time advertisements for Hillary Clinton.

They're also a chance for Clinton to get actual practice prior to a big debate with the Republicans.

I really don't understand why anyone wouldn't want debates.

Clinton will have to match progressive credentials with whomever she is debating. If that person is Sanders, that may be farther to the left than she wants to go. I'm sure she'd love to debate O'Malley/Webb

Not necessarily in terms of actually challenging in the elections. Ron Paul never was competitive and he raised money in this way as well.
