An interesting discussion to have, since the media tends to get their way. (ex: wanted Obama/McCain with an Obama victory in 2008, wanted Obama/Romney with an Obama victory in 2012...) Though since it's looking extremely unlikely they'll get their way in the Democratic primary, it's possible we could see them back a Republican in the general for the first time since Bush (particularly if a media darling such as Jeb or Rubio snags the nomination.) My take on it:

Dems:

Like:
- Martin O'Malley (Muh bland white guy Hillary alternative! Invite him to every news show! Top tier contender despite polling at 1%!)
- Elizabeth Warren (She's not running, but DAMN the adoration is striking. They'd turn on her in a second if she actually won the nomination though)

Hate:
- Hillary Clinton ("<insert endless faux scandals here>" "<insert blatant double standards here>" "HILERY SUPER VULNERABLE IN PRIMARY!" "could hillary drop out? DEM FIELD WITHOUT HILLARY!")

Mixed:
- Joe Biden ("Uncle Joe" love, but also don't seem to take him seriously)
- Lincoln Chafee (Acknowledge he has a 0% chance and occasionally mock him, but give him tons of free publicity since they love to hear Democrats attack Hillary. More of a marriage of convenience against their nemesis than genuine affection)

Neutral:
- Jim Webb
- Bernie Sanders

Republicans:

Like:
- Jeb Bush (Muh new kind of Republican! Muh hispanic wife! He'll make California competitive! JEB IS HIS OWN MAN, DIDN'T YOU HEAR HIM?! LEAVE JEB ALONE!)
- Marco Rubio (Muh Hispanic. Top tier contender even though he polls horribly! So inspiring and relatable! Great speaker! Republican Obama! *swoons* Foreign policy expert from being in the Senate for less than a term! David Rivera who?
- Carly Fiorina (Muh womenz. So SERIOUS. Such a REAL candidate! Great attack dog on hillary! (Similar to Warren/Chafee, another marriage of convenience here)

Hate:
- Ted Cruz (They basically dislike all SoCon oriented candidates)
- Rick Santorum (^)
- Mike Huckabee (^)
- Ben Carson (^)

Mixed:
- Rand Paul (Savior of the GOP! Outreach to youngs and minorities! Candidate of the future! vs. plagiarizer/isolationist/short tempered/sexist to females/too much like dad, etc.)
- Chris Christie (Such a big personality! He can win people ever! A top tier contender even though 60% of republicans hate him! vs. heavily focused on Bridgegate despite the fact that he'll likely be cleared of wrongdoing, focus a lot on his corruption and mediocre tenure as governor)

Neutral:
- The rest

Add Donald Trump to hate because, well, Donald Trump.

"The media" is not a monolith, so this question is impossible to answer.

It's not a monolith, but there are certainly overall currents that are quite noticable.
