Most sources consider Kosovo a country (including 108 countries) so I'm going with that. I'll also be using Palestine and Vatican City as a lot of sources consider them countries too.

Don't plan to. But considering the mess that everyone in the Balkans made of the region, I don't think the Serbs should complain about losing Kosovo (though admittedly I don't know much about the 1990s conflicts).
