I honestly believe that, despite his flaws, his foreign policy errors, and the persona he portrayed, LBJ's motives were always driven by the greater good. Vietnam was an unforgivable debacle, to be sure, but it's irrevocably tied to the domestic agenda he was passionate about; a strong anti-Communist stance was conventionally thought necessary for Cold War liberals such as himself to maintain political credibility. He had witnessed poverty in his own life and was motivated, more so than any other president, to rid society of its injustices, inequalities and discriminations. Overall a FF.
