This should be predictable, for the most part.

"Everyone I like" = "My Party"

"Everyone I don't like" = "The Other Party"

Complete with a lack of historical context for this reasoning. Smiley

At least the Libertarian replies should be interesting. Kiki

There were two founders  named Thomas Jefferson? Wink

Anyway, I belive most of them would be either Libretarian leaning Republicans or Moderate Democrats.

They'd all be disgusted with all the parties and be independents. I guess I could see Hamilton as a Republican.

I can see Adams, Hamilton, Pinckney, Jay, and Jefferson as Republicans. I know that sounds weird to see that group all under one tent. Franklin and Madison as Democrats. Maybe Pinckney could be a Democrat as well.

The vast majority of them would be Republicans. Political debate in the early republic was between financial and agricultural interests, both of which are now largley represented in the Republican Party.

Benjamin Franklin- independent

John Adams- moderate Republican

James Madison- Reagan Democrat--> Reagan Republican

Charles Pinckney- Southern Democrat holdover

Alexander Hamilton- Rockefeller Republican

Thomas Jefferson- Ron Paul Republican

John Jay- moderate Democrat

George Washington- Buchananite Republican

It's hard to see any of the founding fathers identifying with Obama's modern Democratic Party.

The kind of agricultural interests the D-R's argued in favor of no longer exists. Jefferson would be no friend of corporate farms (or corporate anythings).

Most of these guys, with the exception of Hamilton and co., would have been disgusted by the state of America since about the 1880s or so. They'd all likely be radical revolutionaries.

In the early party system Adams, Jay, and Hamilton were in the same party together while Jefferson and Madison where their opponents. So it would seem logical to cluster them in a similar way.

Benjamin Franklin - liberal Democrat
John Adams - Republican
Thomas Jefferson - Democrat
James Madison - Democrat
Charles Pinckney - not sure
Alexander Hamilton - Democrat
John Jay - Democrat

I think Xahar has it right. Not that the Republicans should be particularly proud of this feat.

Describing Jefferson's agrarian republicanism as "agricultural interests" is demeaning and incorrect.  I'd probably say the same thing about Hamilton's mercantile nationalism, but I'm not sure.  Either way, history has not always been as materialistic as it is now.

And they would be savaged on Fox News as America-hating traitors.

I'm not so sure about that.  You're right about Hamilton, Jay, etc.., they helped build America as the superpower it is today.  They'd be neoconservative Republicans or perhaps Geithner/Rubin-style Democrats.

I could actually see Franklin as one of the TEA partiers.

Obviously in Jefferson's time the greatest threat to liberty was collusion between the state and privileged interests (clergy, aristocracy, etc..); however, he recognized the threat of the monied interests even in their infancy, so I'm not entirely sure that, placed in this modern setting, he wouldn't recognize the that the overwhelming threat of monied interests requires a powerful state as a counterbalance.

And certainly Madison, a pragmatic intellectual, would be a Democrat.

Adams reminds me a lot of John McCain.
