The man was having his rent covered by his parents, along with a stipend of spending money. And although he was a college graduate, his work history was spotty and he spent most of his day engaging in unproductive hobbies.
But when that stipend was reduced, Thomas Gilbert, Jr., went to his parents' Manhattan apartment, told his mother to go buy him a sandwich, and, once she had departed,
proceeded to off Thomas Gilbert, Sr. with a gun.
I hear he also had a little
pied-à-terre in Tulsa that he stayed at on occasion.
