This in context, to the continuing furor over President Obama's immigration executive orders, which Rivera came out in favor of.

There was that old quote, "Communism would be fine if not for the communists."

The Republican Party would be so much nicer without Republicans.

He was probably referring to the people following Geraldo, whom the title quote was aimed at

Are you suggesting the sort of people who follow a Fox News personality are not Republicans?

I misunderstood what you said, as NYE noted. Geraldo is, and has always been, a total asswipe, so I can't say the Fox crowds reaction isn't just motivated by race or politics alone.

This is what happens when you create a disease, and then you debate the best treatments for the symptoms. The "pieces of sh*t" are the people who support incredibly dumb policies but who demand an aura of civility.

Why does Rivera believe that so many Americans support Obama's executive action? Maybe it's because he's doing something stupid that won't fix the problem, and he's punching people in the mouth while doing it. If politicians are going to be as dumb as their lowliest constituents, they might as well engage in MMA-style political brawls for our amusement. Obama is probably on the right side of this punch-up.

Geraldo Rivera is great. Sad to see him use this sort of language however.
