From the Gallup polls going back to World War II of the March after re-election, Bush has the next closest President (Reagan) beat by 11 points.

Truman, 1949: 57%.
Eisenhower, 1957: 65%.
Johnson, 1965: 69%.
Nixon, 1973: 57%.
Reagan, 1985: 56%.
Clinton, 1997: 59% .
Bush, 2005: 45%

What a "mandate"!

Combine this with the fact that it's the highest lowest rating ever...then ... yeah...

oo! oo! and he had the highest highest...what a loser.

He was the most unpopular President that was re-elected. So what? That still means he was more popular than those who were defeated.

And? Too late to worry about that now. Democrats should have picked a candidate who can connect with small town voters.

All this [his poor ratings]  means is that he won't be helping out the Congressional GOP a great deal next year.

Reagan had a 44 percent job approval rating during his second term and still left office with 64 percent job approval.

True, but I'm just pointing out that presidents can come back. Rasmussen has him at 48 percent, which isn't so terrible.

Truman-23%
Johnson-35%
Nixon-24%
Ford-37%
Carter-28%
Reagan-35%
G.H.W. Bush-29%
Clinton-37%

as their lowest
