Probably not. Duckworth is overrated as a candidate, she under-performed Obama in the district she's in.

To be fair she was running against an incumbent we'll see how she does when running for re-election in 2014.

She was running against arguably the worst incumbent in the entire country.

Hadn't she lost multiple races before this one, too?

She lost a race against Peter Roskam in 2006, though to her credit, this is a district Romney won in 2012.

It was also arguably one of the most nationalized races in the country.  A ten-point loss for an incumbent in this day and age isn't something to scoff at, anyway.

True, although Walsh was toxic.

Nationalizing a race is one of the last resorts of a disaster of a politician. I think the climate was finally right for Duckworth, and she was able to take advantage. She's a decent enough politician, but I don't think she's impressive enough to be Hillary's running mate.

A total of three House elections, one of which she lost, isn't a demonstration of significant political talent. Her experience isn't adequate, and you could bet on Republicans to consider her service in the Blagojevich administration.

She comes from a safe state. There may be higher Asian-American turnout, but it's a small group, disproportionately likely to live in big cities in states that won't be in play.

She doesn't add much to a Clinton ticket, which doesn't need a woman to be groundbreaking and doesn't need a war hero for foreign policy cred. That could actually be the one strong suit for Duckworth. Because she amplifies what people already like about Clinton, she could be an effective surrogate and keep the focus on the top of the ticket.

She wouldn't be a bad pick for a Cuomo or a Schwietzer, but she's a horrible pick for Hillary... If Hillary Clinton is picking a Congressman/woman it won't be from a Safe D State.

Tell that to Paul Ryan... The precedent of Senate/Governors being VPs was broken by Romney's pick it'd be hard for the press to scrutinize picking someone from the House after someone like Ryan was selected in 2012.

Well, we saw how that turned out with Ryan. Still, I do think that Duckworth could be a better VP candidate than him, but she would be a risky choice.

Hillary won't need Duckworth to carry Illinois since she has it in the bag while Romney foolishly thought Ryan would help carry Wisconsin for him. Duckworth wouldn't be an electoral pick Clinton would be picking her for her background being a war hero, minority, daughter of immigrants she has a very impressive bio and I think she'd contrast against someone like Susana Martinez.

Okay, since we aren't relying on Duckworth for electability, I could agree with you on what you mentioned about her personal narrative. It is impressive, and would be beneficial.
