I think he's gotten it out of his system.  He's back to floating his own name only in an attempt to stay relevant.

Gingrich really shouldn't. He's smart but he's incredibly repulsive in his viewpoints and his lack of principle. Plus, he would get slaughtered in the new field.

His goal now is to rebuild his image one last time to be the grandfather of the republican party before dying (not that he's dying anytime soon). But still you can't move approval ratings without people seeing news about you.

Please God, let him run. Tongue

Actually, my comedic dream would be a 3-way primary between Gingrich, Cain, and Perry.

Gingrich would be 73 at the time, and I might add that he is a fat. He's no Ron Paul kind of fitness buff. His body in short is sort of comparable to the quality of his judgment, temperament, and character - they all all in the "suck" category. Remember this is the guy who wants to shred Marbury v. Madison, and with it for all practical purposes, the Constitution itself. In a word, he's unfit!

Gingrich should be a campaign manager a la Rove.  He can sell books, be in the spotlight, and  all the $2 whores he wants.

He would have had a shot at 2016 nom if it weren't for the fact he stayed in the 2012 race way too long (after he had already lost) and acted like an egotistical buffoon. Even the GOP won't fall for him, they can't stand him I think.

The only 2012 veterans who could do '16 are Rick Santorum (who is definitely running and will be trying to appeal to social conservatives, a la Huckabee-'08) and Rick Perry (first off he needs to win reelection by a non-embarrassing margin in the primary and the general; if he can do that, he can be a darkhorse, though really 2012 was his big shot and he blew it; Governor of Texas is a big enough deal that he will be getting some attention no matter what). Nobody else from the '12 cycle will be running.

I could see Newt running again to stay in the headlines, and to make a case that he would be the best debater against Hillary in 2016 (Back to the 90's Clinton-Gingrich rivalry), so I won't underestimate him.

Rick Perry isn't running for reelection.

Apparently he's been sending out calls about GOP unification. So there's that.

I'd prefer the great Herman Cain to run again instead.

I wouldn't put it past Gingrich to run, but he won't have Sheldon Adelson as his Sugar Daddy next time out.

At a certain level, why shouldn't Gingrich run?  He's more intellectually formidable than a whole slew of candidates, and he's not afraid to get down and dirty.  There's no doubt he's qualified, and it's my opinion that many of the kind of things that people view as Gingrich negatives (his womanizing, ugly divorces, the way he left Congress) will not be factors in a future race.

The main label Gingrich has working against him is the "loser" label.  Most Republicans view him as unelectable.  I don't see how Gingrich will be able to get around that.

I think Gingy would get annihilated in the polls.  The GOP have an excellent chance to win this election with or without Clinton running, they just need not screw it up like they do every cycle.
