Bob Marshall is infamous in Virginia.

Having said that, I don't see him getting the nomination. As far as I recall, the GOP is using a firehouse primary, and Barbara Comstock is ahead in all the polls. I do think she'll get the nomination.

The point is, Marshall needs a convention to win. He is not getting that, and even then, he only got a small % when he tried for Senate in 2012. Marshall is not popular even in Republican circles.  I remember hearing that only a sliver of his house district is in this congressional district, so he doesn't have a large base of support. I expect Comstock to take the nomination fairly comfortably. She has Frank Wolf's team and most of Virginia's power players on her side here too.

Agree with Moderate VA,

I follow the local GOP very closely and there is little chance that Marshall(or anyone else who isn't Barbra Comstock) will come close to winning the Republican nomination.

All the momentum is on Comstock's side and she has clenched the support of every major player in the 10th district. Most straw polls conducted in VA 10 have shown her with a very wide lead. and even many of the Tea Party activist types support her. If by some chance Marshall comes close to getting the nomination the local GOP will find a way to deny it to him.

Yeah, Comstock isn't some Rockefeller Republican the base will refuse to support in a primary. She's conservative, just not a loudmouth crazy like Marshall is.

No way Marshall gets the nomination. The only words I have to describe Marshall aren't civil, and that's coming from someone right of center. His base can't carry Louden.

Great news for Comstock. I think that she has the edge in the general election, simply because Northern Virginia strongly supported Obama in 2012, yet Romney won this House district, albeit narrowly. In my mind, Comstock is a quality candidate, and I am going to say that this race is Lean R.

I tend to agree. Comstock is probably the best candidate Republicans could field here.

I agree, but the same can be said of John Foust. I think Comstock has the edge to pure PVI and the fact that getting voters to turnout in NoVa is like pulling teeth, but Foust shouldn't be counted out.

The first quote is extremely awful and offensive.  Nothing wrong with the other two.
