Happy May Day comrades! As per the Holidays Act, today is International Labor Day, a recognized federal holiday with paid time off and double-time for those who choose to work this fine day. How are you celebrating?

Why is this a holiday? Since when? I will work, and I refuse any extra pay. Labor Day is on 1 September. And don't call me comrade.

Actually, my original post is wrong. May 1st was made International Workers Day by the Recognition of Labor Act (sponsored by yours truly), passed by the Senate on October 4, 2013 and signed into law by President Nix.

Yeah, pulling a cork on a bottle for sure. Grin Maybe more than one.

And damn right, I'll take my extra pay.

Ha. You must be management, talking like that. Tongue Or a Councillor - we could use you!

The horror of non-rich people getting paid time off must be tearing you up inside.

I strongly recommend, if it can even be found, reading the book "Guilty: Confessions of Franklin Roosevelt", written by a friend, to celebrate the occassion.

It is an advocacy for his reelection in 1936, written in the form of a confession to various crimes. So like "on the charge of violating the workingman's traditional freedom to earn slave wages, the President please Guilty!" or "on the charge of trampling the farmer's liberty to make nothing for selling his crops and get foreclosed on, the President Please Guilty!".

It does the same thing for banks, businesses and even turns the constitutional arguement used against his Presidency on its head.

I don't even remember where I found it now, but considering the day I started reading it on Thursday.

(If two other posts of this occur, it is because the site kept crashing when hitting post).
