I received a fundraising letter this week from Congressman Kevin Yoder.

First of all, why send one to me?
1.  I changed my party registration to Democratic in 2009.  I have not been a registered Republican the entire time Yoder's been in office.  I have not been a registered Republican the entire time I've lived at my current residence.
2.  I attended the state-senate-level Democratic presidential caucuses in 2012.  On top of that, I volunteered to be a delegate to the 3rd-Congressional-District-level Democratic convention the following month.  I might as well just have "Democrat" stamped on my forehead.

Isn't sending a letter to me just a waste of a stamp?

Secondly, I take issue with his categorization of his Democratic opponent as a "big-city liberal from Kansas City".  Yes, technically it's true that she's from KCK, which is the second most populous municipality in the district.  But it's a little disingenuous, since Yoder is the one who resides in the district's biggest city.

This is probably just me being too naïve about politics.  I forget that the art of getting elected is usually to phrase factually correct things in such a way as to make them easily misinterpreted.  And he's probably just sending the letter to everyone, in an attempt to define his opponent before she gets her name known.

Parties tend to not remove people from their lists. Why bother wasting the time of someone on that?

No.  But  once you are on a mailing list, even if by error, you generally are stuck on it for life.

My mother somehow ended up on a mailing list for young black ladies' fashion catalogs despite being an old white lady who didn't bother keeping up with fashion of any sort any more.  At least it was ladies' clothing.
