Since President Duke recently signed the
landmark healthcare reform bill, I felt that a "public forum"-type thread was warranted to garner reaction and generate discussion. What I personally like about the new law is that it gives regions more flexibility in determining health care policy but the uninsured are guaranteed coverage no matter what. Earlier today I
gave a preview of future plans I hope to work on in the IDS. (The German model is my personal favorite form of universal healthcare and I look forward to crafting a version for the South, but I wanted to make this thread so that folks can bounce ideas off each other.)
I strongly encourage regional executives to give their input, since they will have a critical role in formulating their region's healthcare policy - that is, if they opt not to allow the ANHC to have a complete monopoly over the exchanges.
