My accent isn't well differentiated from standard newscast American English:  That is, bland Midwest.

But I can do the accent of my great uncle Butch.

Key words to this story:

Pumpkin:  Should be pronounced "PUNG-kn"

It should be read in the sing-songy tones highlighted in the video clip below.

"Oooh yaaaaah!  Mayvis (almost sounds like meevis) was down 'der in da pumpkin patch plantin' da seeds don'tcha know... n' anyway she bends over n' her pants ripped from 'er ankle to 'er hind end n' it was so loud it scared the ducks off.  I was laughin' sooo hard n' I sez ta her I sez 'Jiminy Crickets Mavis you better get in n' change dem things before a gust a' wind plants a pumpkin in yer butt!"

I'm told that I pronounce "we're" somewhat like "were." Is that associated with a particular region? I don't do it with other words like "here" or "hear." (You won't hurr me say, "Y'all gon' make me ac' a fool up in hurr, up in hurr.")

What about ten/tin or Ben/bin

They sound different when I say them. I'm only two generations removed from being a Damn Yankee, and my mother spent a considerable portion of her childhood in St. Louis. So I never acquired the "pen/pin" merger that so many Texans have.
