It's possible, I just wouldn't be surprised if this is some kind of smoke screen.

Wouldn't be surprised if Reid is somehow behind this if it happens.

Reid is a fighter and NV leans Democratic in a prez race. Unlike McConnell who has a tea party challenger, frees Reid up to take on any GOP. Just tea partier Angle destroyed Lowdon's chances, who was the better of the two.

Generic Businessman/military vet would have been enough to topple Reid in 2010.

It would be better if Hilary is on top of ticket for Reid, since she did do very well in NV caucuses. But, nevertheless, Reid has enough money to be competetive.

Yeah, I like this revisionist history of Reid as a dominating force that would destroy any Republican including the popular Republican governor. He beat Sharon f'ing Angle by a slim margin. Hardly a gargantuan accomplishment.

Sandoval would crush Reid.

Hopefully not. We need Sandoval to beat Reid in 2016!

Sandoval is pro choice, Reid is more moderate on abortion.

Sandoval will still caucus with the GOP. A new GOP senate wants a ban on abortions after 20 wks. Anti choice Cotton will give the GOP it's fill. That's why Reid and Hagen needs to stay. Hopefully, Madigan runs in Illinois. To keep a senate along with Hilary, Democratic.

He might not want to go to Washington, quite a few politicians just don't like it and/or don't want to be legislators.

He doesn't strike me as a legislative type, so this doesn't surprise me much. Still, I hope he at least gives Reid a run for his money.

I could see Obama nominating him if say, Kennedy or Roberts keeled over.

No way. Obama knows that Liberals controlling the Supreme Court is important.

After Bush didn't put Gonzalez on the SCOTUS, I don't see how Obama can make overtures like that for the GOP. Maybe a district CRT judgeship.

Remember when Obama tried to appoint Gregg as Commerce Secretary to take the Senate GOP down to 40 members? Obama would totally do this if Reid asks.

Besides, he was already a district court judge so a promotion wouldn't be inappropriate and it's not like the 9th Circuit isn't going to remain reliably to the left anyway

No. Firstly, some people seem to underestimate Reid's skills and how he can nuke his opponents.
Obama will never give the  Supreme Court to the Conservative just to avoid a Sandoval's candidacy. Sandoval isn't a god.

No one's saying he gets appointed to SCOTUS. Read the thread.
