New Jersey Gov. Christopher Christie is the hottest politician in the nation, with a 55.5 degree mean temperature, when American voters rate their feelings toward players on the national political stage, according to a Quinnipiac University national thermometer released today.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is second hottest, with a 51 degree mean temperature (note that this is not a percentage) among all voters, and hottest among Republican voters, with a toasty 74.9 degree mean temperature. The independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe- ack) University poll asks voters to rate their feelings from a cold of 0 degrees to 100 degrees.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren is third hottest, with a 50.7 degree mean temperature, but 46 percent of voters don't know enough about her to form an opinion.

There's a lot of warmth for Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, but in each case, more than 50 percent of voters have no opinion.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is seventh on the list, with a 48.5 degree mean score. She also is the hottest politician among Democratic voters, with a sizzling 77.2 degrees.

"He may not seem the warm and fuzzy type, but New Jersey Gov. Christopher Christie is a hot ticket in eyes of American voters," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

...

From January 4 - 7, Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,487 registered voters nationwide with a margin of error of +/- 2.5 percentage points. The survey of 1,757 adults has a margin of error of +/- 2.3 percentage points. Live interviewers call land lines and cell phones.

This "hotness" scale seems terrible and pointless.
