"It sure is nice and warm down here for Christmas," whispered the southern hemisphere. She was shunned.

I was out in it yesterday. It made me abnormally depressed.

Awful.

EDIT: However, when I woke up yesterday, all the trees in my neighborhood were frozen and continue to be like that. It's pretty awesome. However, I haven't gone outside since, and I should probably do so. A frozen venture will do me good.

What is it with you Michigan natives talking about your trees?

What else would I comment on? It's the most notable indicator of just how messed up the weather is here. Every single tree is covered in ice. There's one outside the kitchen window that is practically half its previous height just by being weighed down by said ice.

It would have been nicer to have been 60 and sunny instead of raining the whole time, so I'll take 45 and sunny over that any day

upper midwest cold and snowy as normal + east coast warm = zone between them has ice storm that planes can't land in = connecting flight cancelled = unexpected night at Cleveland airport hotel.

Negative.

"It's going to be 40 degrees Celsius or more in December," said the southern hemisphere, meekly.

Melbourne high today: 25ºC
Tampa high today: 28ºC

It's -25F and will probably hit -30F before 2-5" of snow tomorrow and high winds.  Merry Christmas, Santa... northern Minnesota is gonna be a bitch.

Uh, we've been having a record string of consecutive days over 30ºC. I think it's been 2 weeks or more, and most days aren't the more typical for this month 30º or 31º, they are more like 36º or 37º. Power blackouts are common (thanks to everyone using their air conditioner), we've had little rain in like a month and it's been generally completely awful.
We have a forecast of about 37ºC for christmas and it seems that temperatures will continue to be above 34ºC for over 10 days.

It's times like this I wished I lived in Ushuaia Tongue

Australia - though it's 30ºC in Melbourne, Australia today, and only 21ºC in Melbourne, FL.

It was -32F last night here and got all the way to 5F!  Where it is now.

It's been snowing off and on all day and the drive home from my Christmas Eve festivities was harrowing with horizontal heavy snow and snowy roads and a surprising amount of traffic for Christmas Eve in northern Minnesota with snow.

Today, we have temps of 61°F/16°C in Salzburg City and 53°F here in Zell am See (I measured 57°F at 7am in the morning, but now it got weaker here), thanks to a warm burst of Foehn-winds.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foehn_wind

A few days ago it had -10°C (14°F) in the early morning hours.

This is wayyyyy too hot for this time of the year here in the Alps and the snow is melting like sh*t.

Not good for the skiing and bob-sleigh tourism if the temps remain above 0°C without fresh snow ... Sad

According to the ZAMG records, the last week of December 2012 was already the hottest week in Salzburg since area-wide weather records began after World War 2.

Last year it had 18.4°C maximum.

This year, 20°C ...

I have noticed in general that the snow cover is becoming less and less over the last years here.

My grandmother used to tell us that when she was young (1940), there have been winter storms regularly which brought 50cm to 150cm of snow.

In recent years we were lucky to get 20-30cm of snow on the valley ground.

Thanks, climate change ... Tongue
