This. They've become filled mostly wingnuts over the last couple decades, but thankfully, their incompetence means that, for the time being, they're mostly harmless.

HP. Having to recall an incumbent Democratic Governor then nominate a popular Republican actor just to win the Governorship was really pathetic on their part.

Explain how it was pathetic. That sounds like one of the highlights of the recent California GOP. Do you just not like losing or something?

Massive extremist HP for refusing to negotiate a budget except for the most "moderate" member who extracts massive blackmail. Thankfully the voters removed that idiotic 2/3rds requirement for passing a budget, and also gave the Democratic party a 2/3rds majority as well. They aren't the New York Republican party, which still has a couple of members who aren't total lunatics.

Arnold's governorship was a total disaster. At least he was governor long enough for his short-sighted decisions to bite him in the ass.

What he said. Unemployment skyrocketed higher than the national rate under him while it remained constant under Davis. I really didn't see an electricity crisis a merited reason for why Governor Davis deserved to be recalled. For one thing, even when Davis' approvals were as low as they were, he still survived in 2002 against the Republican and they knew they could only win the Governorship in a small turnout special election.

Pete Wilson was the last actual Republican of the Governor who didn't need a still widely criticized recall to get himself elected. The California Republican Party is really no better than Colorado's GOP.

A lot of sleeze to be sure, but also some rather good people as well.

Totally incompetent overall though as they should have nominated Campbell in 2010 for instance and not elected Arnold to the Governorship.
