http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/health-co-ops-created-to-foster-competition-and-lower-insurance-costs-are-facing-danger/2013/10/22/e1c961fe-3809-11e3-ae46-e4248e75c8ea_story.html

The network of co-ops was supposed to compete with for-profit insurance companies.  At first the idea was that they would be given grants to start up, but that changed to loans, and then the law placed a lot of restrictions on them at the request of the insurance companies.  Then through the budget negotiations, the funding for those loans has nearly disappeared, and without the exchange on-line to allow people to see what they offer, it's not sure if they'll be able to stay afloat. If they go down, both taxpayers and policyholders could be on the hook for the failure.

What else would anyone expect? The glitch in the computer software is another problem. Next time it will be someone's medical records or the national waiting list for an organ which will lead to deaths. This is what happens when government controls things.

Yes.  Lets be clear, even before Obamacare the number of government paperwork doctors and hospitals has to put up with is already massive and a major cost and drain on the operation of health provider.  Obamacare is merely making a bad situation worse.

That was not what I was trying to communicate.  Yes, big government socialism experiment always fails.  But big government xxxism experiment also always fails.  In this case this all I am pointing out is that big government fails because it lacks the profit motive will waste resources across the board.  In this case the monster is devouring its own children with health insurance corporations using its lobbying power get big government to crush co-ops with paperworks just like big government does to everyone else as it substracts value from the economy.  That these co-ops which also lack a profit motive ergo are doomed to fail is secondary as it did not even have a chance to start given all the paperwork it has to put up with.

this is actually that much more hurtful sister phenomenon, government big small or tiny wasting resources and hurting people by behaving as if its business partners lack the profit motive.

The bottom line is that it's not profitable because of what the bill does.
