The Senate/White House need to put a budget together or the economy is going to start into recession.  We've never had a budget, yet we've basically agreed one is needed.  You don't have to produce one, but show me you're working towards one.

Based on the GM's warning here, I would motion that we, as the Senate, fill one of our Act thread slots here directly for working out the details of the First Atlasian federal budget immediately.

You, in effect, already have a budget.  Take the US actual spending/taxation and make adjustments based on spending changes we've made as a government and thats the budget.  All it takes is for someone to do the addition and for everyone to agree to pass it.

No, I realize that.  But we still need to create a thread so that Senators can vote on it and approve this budget.

I'm just asking that we push this up to the top of the agenda, so that a budget can be passed ASAP without having to wait for the normal scheme of things.

I would assume either the PPT or a number of Senators would have to approve that change.  I'm not very sure that it's clear in the Procedural Resolutions that that is the primary way to do it though.

Given that a budget is not like other pieces of legislation, I have no problem with bumping it to the top of the pile.

Well, then can we start a federal budget thread for one of the two openings in legislation we presently have.  Smiley

Here are my totals, as for the moment.

I also have a few questions here, if anyone wants to answer them.

I might get a chance to through an outline of the budget tonight, but I also hope someone would help.  Thanks.

Should we have the President submit a budget and the Senate approve it?

Sen. Spade appears ready to introduce a budget, but if you wish to introduce a competing budget you need to find a congressional sponsor.
