Federalist Standing Committee
Federalist By-Laws
Federalist Platform

Hey,

Currently, there is a small issue where, in normal circumstances we would need to run a primary election. I have sought out this and looked and where we need to make change, and we will begin a vote starting at 6:00 PM on 8/13/2013 and end on 6:00 PM on 8/16/2013. This will change the number of candidates the Federalist Party can endorse/run in an At-Large Election. With the size of our party increasing, I have made the conscious decision to increase that number, since it is possible for us to gain a majority of voters and a majority of these seats with the continuing disappearance of third parties. I hope you vote in favor of my amendment, Otherwise, We will face some issues.

Sincerely,
Federalist Chairman Maxwell

Amendment to the By-Laws
Amending Section III, Part 3
3. Currently, a maximum of two three candidates may be endorsed for the senate at large. If the Federalist Party has more than this number of incumbent at-large senators seeking re-election, each of the incumbents may still receive the endorsement of the party. If, on the first Friday prior to the at-large election, the number of declared Federalist candidates is equal to or less than the maximum number of endorsements, no primary election shall be held and those candidates shall automatically receive the endorsement of the Federalist Party. Any Federalist candidates entering the race after this time shall not enjoy the party’s official endorsement. If, on the first Friday prior to the election, the number of declared Federalists is larger than the maximum number of Federalist endorsements, a primary election shall be held. The election shall run for three (3) days and shall be decided by public IRV. If the number of declared Federalist candidates is less than the maximum number of endorsements, non-Federalists may receive these remaining endorsements.

Vote Aye, Nay or Abstain in the next three days.

Nay

I think, despite the fact we are growing, we will still have large troubles with voter turnouts. We have barely been able to get 2 people elected in 1 election and have trouble seeing 3.

Aye

For the record, I would be pushing for the same change. The by-laws as I wrote them did not account for the new political landscape in Atlasia. There is a substantial chunk of voters up for grabs in the middle, and I think it would be a mistake to limit our chances this time around. We stand to lose more by keeping it to two candidates than we do by expanding it to three.
