No. America is a great country, but I don't wish I was American.

Also, I can think of like over 100 countries with more exciting elections that America.

Two parties more or less offering the same thing (with identity politics being the extent of the division). It's more than boring: it's disenfranchisingly boring.

I wish I could add America to my other two nationalities, yes. Though I'd be happy enough with a permanent resident status.

Haha, no. I'm far too culturally British.

Though your elections are more exciting, yes.

Even if that were true, why would be the defining reason to want to move to the US? We still get CNN, so it's not like we can't watch you elections the same way you do.

No. I like the fact I can soon get married, that my tax is low, that my healthcare is paid from my tax and I can get wisdom teeth removed, three fillings and a polish for less than 50 pounds.

For all the foreigners who call American elections boring, why are you on a forum for American politics?

I only found this forum because of searching UK local elections and stuck around for the international section.

No. (normal)

While the media coverage of election day in the US may be one of the most exciting, at least one of the most show-oriented, the content of the elections are more exciting in dozens of countries.

I am American, and I find Australian politics more interesting and issue oriented than American politics. As far as election coverage and actual campaigns go, America is way more entertaining. The last time I was there I managed to go to a rally and see Joe Biden. It's just not as accessible and.. "in the air" here.

Is there a rule that says we can't be on the forum if we don't live and breathe by American elections, every day of every year?

Have you ever looked into the "International Elections" section? Pretty fascinating stuff there, including election maps of quite a lot of countries on several continents, background discussion on parties and politicians I would have a hard time to come across anywhere else (I have especially learnt a lot about various Latin American countries here recently), plus the opportunity to watch Spaniards, Italians, Swedes or Brits discuss their domestic politics.

The American stuff is also quite nice some times (and American presidential elections are anything but boring), but if it was for that alone, I could as well have staid at 538 or HuffPost Pollster, with an occasional peak into DailyKos (o.k., some people here are making pretty good maps...)

To be honest, this is one of the more significant factors:

you have to admit, our elections are more exciting than yours!

yeah, right.  Our elections are exciting?!  Basically whoever has the most money gets elected.   Do you really remember the last time you couldn't predict the winner?  Who in 2012 didn't know Obama would win?  Or 2008?  Or 2004?  Okay, 2000 was a nail-biter, granted, but still it was embarrassing.  Look at the candidates:  is this the best we could do?  Out of three hundred million people we come up with Bush versus Gore.  The spoiled, rich college frat boy versus the slightly stiffer and less likable spoiled, rich college frat boy.  Please.

You want excitement?  Imagine the ballot in Uganda in the 90s:

mark an X here for Mugabe ____

mark an X here for Mugabe's opponent (prepare to be beaten, then shot, on the way out of the booth)___

Now that's excitement!

Or those Arab Spring elections where you get to cover your thumb with purple ink.  How cool is that?

Or the Ukraine election where the candidate was scarred with sulfuric acid by his opponents minions, but still won.  We never have anything like that here.

Or the Guatemalan elections of the 90s where you had a convicted murder running against a convicted rapist.  Something for everyone!

Or the tomatino festival in Buņol, Spain.  Shirtless, studly, handsome caballeros and busty brunette seņoritas scantily clad and covered in freshly hewn tomato squeezings.

Well, okay that last one isn't an election, but it is more exciting than a typical US election.
