I'm pretty sure adjectives-as-nouns isn't an Atlas-ism. I've heard friends do it before. And I once had a professor who spoke English as a second language who did this, though probably not with the intent of being facetious.

We created it on lambda-moo, my friend.  Or rather (daring to be immodest), I did.  That was back in circa 92 or so I think.  There were a number of other wonderful innovations on lambdamoo, but I can't remember clearly.

I use adjectives as nouns. It has caught on with a few of my friends. They love it and even know the name "opebo."

WOW.  Just wow.  I feel vindicated and validated.  Thank you KP.

I sometimes now use "olds" or refer to myself as an "old."  But more often, I use the term "Pubs" to refer to "Republicans," and when I do, people can usually figure out what I'm referring to without me telling them, but they do look at me funny.  Or maybe they look at me funny all the time--how would I know? Tongue

Who came up with the "Pub" thing I wonder? Tongue

I know you did.  So, between you and opebo, a good bit of my political and personal vocabulary is accounted for.  Tongue   Just think, an over-schooled NoDak boy has been trained to talk by the Atlas Forum's Thai mafia!  Tongue

I don't ever think I'd use the expression "freedom fighter" though, at least not without lots of booze or the generosity of some as-yet-unknown major benefactor.

I also regularly call Tea Party folks "teabaggers".
