We're not as shocked by acts of terror.  Plus, it wasn't a huge event.  The 1993 WTC bombing did not alter our foreign policy very much.
Very true. There was no public outcry for more "security" after the OK City bombing either.

Am I the only one who was a lot more disturbed by the fertilizer plant explosion in West, TX?

No, not really.

Given that the TX plant was apparently stockpiling huge quantities of ammonium nitrate without the knowledge of Homeland Security, I'd expect it'll impact more legislation than anything having to do with Boston.

There is a chance this could help background check legislation. Apparently neither of these guys would have been able to pass one. So if they got their guns from a gun show or via internet sales then that could have big impact. They could start calling it the "Boston Bomber Loophole" or the "Tsarnaev Loophole" and who wants to vote against closing that? (besides Ted Cruz because of 'Freedom' etc)

Uh, no, it won't matter at all, to be honest.  1 person (the MIT cop) dying from a gunshot won't change Congress' mind.
