In a confusing Moderate Hero way. This just leaves Pryor and Manchin.

I mentioned that earlier. Wasn't it on Friday? Or does this not "count"?

Awfully risky.

Though, good on her.

If I'm being horribly partisan, then I would say this helps the Republicans get a Senate majority in 2014.

I wonder how long it will take Pryor to support it now, I will give it a year, and if he does, we may see a primary challenge!!!

I think Pryor could potentially support it if reelected, but I think Manchin is ideologically opposed to it.

One other thing, I like Pryor, but I would rather have Beebe as my senator, not Pryor.

Wow, you've got to be real brave to support publicly support SSM in Louisiana. I wish she would have waited until after the election. I don't want her to lose because of this.

The media seems to not be "counting" this.

I've been thinking about this, and while it may tip the scale for some people, ultimately I do not believe a significant amount of opponents of gay marriage will vote on that single issue, at least not the way they did in 2004.

Well I guess the follow-up question is does she endorse repealing the state constitutional amendment?

This is very courageous for Mary, given the political situation that she is in.

It would be fun to see if Governor Jindal throws a tantrum; maybe that would turn people off to the absurdity of the SSM-opposition.  On second thought, it probably wouldn't.  This is Louisiana after all.  Voters there understand that by supporting SSM, Landrieu has done something far more heinous than anything that Vitter had ever done in his entire life.

My sarcasm aside, Landrieu is very gutsy indeed.

Sounds like she's not going to publicly say she is. The whole "I respect the will of the people" is so she doesn't have to comment on whether Louisiana should change its law. But I'm sure she would vote, as a private citizen, to repeal it.

Risky. I'd be really pissed off if Democrats lose seats over this in 2014.

She's not being counted as a supporter because of the wording. I wonder if Pryor follows her lead. Manchin just hates the gays.

Sounds like a Republican running in the Northeast: "I'm personally pro-life, but I consider the matter settled and seek no change to our state's abortion laws." It worked for Romney and Christie.

Maybe Miles can tell us what kind of local splash this is making, but in itself may not be a huge deal. If linked to a "Landrieu's gone DC" narrative then things might be different, but up to Pubs to connect those dots.

I think she's already said that she personally voted against the marriage amendment.

I'll see what the papers say tomorrow. This is a very subtle endorsement of SSM, so she should be ok. Also, the State Legislative session began today, so Landrieu can fly under the radar for now as most local political attention will be on the Legislature.

You can always hope he runs against Boozman in 2016.
