Nor would I. Hoping he doesn't and that Kim Reynolds runs instead.

King would have a chance if somehow it could be arranged that everyone forgets what he has said in the past, and no historical records exist to remind them.

Kim Reynolds is also considering it, but she said she'll talk with King and has no intention of entering a primary with him.

In other news, there have been reports that Karl Rove has recently fainted with no prior warning.

Anything is possible, but this certainly isn't great news for the GOP. Sad

He couldn't have defeated King in the primary, King represents the Republican base and is very conservative like most of the primary electorate.

I've met Steve King. He was very cordial and pleasant.

Must've remembered his meds that day.

King vs. Loebsack would be Iowa politics at its finest. Cheesy
But King vs. Braley is good, too; hopefully King actually decides to run.

Despite Branstand's support for Reynolds (if the primary were King-less) some in the state party would be unwilling to support her.

Braley and Reid are celebrating. More time and money for Dems in other states.

Unless we're being ridiculously myopic, Republicans nominating more unelectable candidates from the hard-right is good news for neither Democrats nor the country. Cheering over this kind of thing doesn't make sense to me, particularly when we're discussing a candidate who has a non-negligible chance of actually winning.
Well it is actually good for Democrats, at least by the metric of it helps them win seats.  Without a doubt Republican's tendancy to nominate unelectable candidates is harmfull to a country.  A healthy two party system is vastly preferable to a system where there is only one rational party.

This isn't a race in Texas or Wyoming (or even Georgia, for a fact). This is a race in Iowa where a man who is basically a male Michele Bachmann is likely to win the nomination and go up against a strong Democratic candidate. I give King a 5% chance of winning against Braley.

I dont think Reynolds would be a much better candidate than King anyway.  Lt. governors arent even popularly elected and nobody usually even knows who they are.
