Our last bit on the agenda will be leadership approval and bylaw amendments. I will post that tomorrow. I will combine them to save time, but I know we need to make changes to our endorsement process. As for the leadership elections, if anyone in the leadership has a sub-50% approval rating after the initial vote, they will be up for a vote against whoever wishes to run against them. If we all are approved by the majority, well, it becomes easy and this convention is a wrap.

Recap and State of The Party

I am here to declare the first ever Convention of The People over. It was a great time, we had a lot of laughs, triumphs, and I feel we are leaving The Convention stronger than ever. Before we go into the night, I will cover all we accomplished during these glorious few weeks and give everyone a bit of a summary of the changes made during The Convention.

State of The Party

The Party left these elections in as strong a position as before. With 5 senators, two legislators and a vice-president, The People's Party represents a large force in Atlasia politics. Further, during the first quarter of 2013, The Party grew by 58% and now has 19 members.

In order to remain united and focused, I encourage all Party members to join our Facebook Group, which is now private, and our fan page in order for us to improve party communication during times when we are not all online at the same time. The page is now private, because sometimes party matters should not be discussed publicly. And trust me, this would beat private messages.

Below, I will cover what we accomplished during our Convention. These changes will be updated in our official party thread.

The Election and Officeholders

The Party had three seats up for reelection and one candidate standing for election to the Vice-Presidency. All in all, all of our candidates were elected to office. Senators Ben, Nix and Oakvale were all three reelected to their seats in the Mideast, Northeast and Pacific. This gives The Party 5 seats going into the next two month legislative session. Additionally, Duke was elected Vice President with Marokai, and Fezzyfestoon was elected to the Northeast Legislature.

Mideast regional chair Talleyrand received The People's Medal for his outstanding work involving Senator Ben's reelection effort.

Logo and Color


The Party chose lime green as our official color, and the first logo on the ballot as our official logo. The chairman will make the necessary requests to the RG to change their color to the correct one.

Platform and Bylaws

The People's Platform adopted several changes, including support for national initiative and nation building projects, as well as an intra-regional coordination program to help make maps in Atlasia look more pleasing to the eye.

In regard to our bylaws, The Party adopted a provision that limits The People's Endorsements to, at most, two candidates, and set a restriction to limit individuals from joining The Party a day before The Convention for purposes of merely receiving our automatic endorsement.

Leadership

All Party officers were reelected to their positions: Duke as chair, Nix as Vice Chair, and Cincinnatus as Secretary.
