Who do you think wins this race.  Background on the nominations.  Kennedy is not shot and gets the democratic nomination and picks Vance Hartke for VP.  With his brother and Nixon not running in 1968, Winthrop tosses his hat into the ring and after tough fight with Reagan, wins and pick Reagan for VP.  Wallace chooses for Vp Happy Chandler.

Can't post a map here 'cause I'm not up to 20 posts yet, but...

RFK wins everywhere HHH did in '68, minus ME, and also picks up CA, IL and NJ. Rockefeller wins the other Nixon states plus AR and ME. Wallace gets the rest.

Final tally:

Kennedy -- 45.2%, 270 votes from 15 states and DC
Rockefeller -- 42.3%, 229 votes from 31 states
Wallace -- 12.1%, 39 votes from 4 states

Shades of '60... Kennedy just barely keeps it out of the House by carrying Illinois by a razor thin margin, and he hits 270 on the nose.
