Regardless of the doctor's comments- this is no way we should expect a President to behave... I for one won't vote for this Tony Soprano-wannabe

Stupid analogy is stupid.

When people can change their diet and exercise habits to rid themselves of AIDS, then we'll talk. And being morbidly obese is not at all comparable to being a certain race. No one is attacking him for being an Italian. Morbid obesity, for someone of Christie's wealth, resources and class, is a choice.

Complete bs! Weight is and can be largely genetic.  One of the reasons why overweight Americans experience so much discrimination is because of people like you claiming that their size is somehow their fault.

It usually is their fault.

He's morbidly obese, not just "overweight". You can do something about that.

What Lief and Clarence said. There's a fine line between badass and asshole, and it wouldn't be hard for the Dems to judo flip his personality into the latter with this sort of thing.

He's not helping his chances.  Even if he goes on a strict diet and exercises like a maniac and gets his weight under control, he'll then have to dispel talk about his temper being too volatile for him to be President.

No. It's more dietary and exercise choice. It doesn't help that we live in a society that subsidizes cheap and unhealthy food, but it is by and large a choice.

The size is their fault.

A gay man could never be president, because we all know they have a much bigger chance of contracting an STD! Look, whether we like it or not, presidents should be as healthy as possible to be able to stand the stress of the job. You think an AIDS patient could handle the weight of the whole Free World?

Speaking of which, it is no secret that the life expectancy of african-americans is well below average. It's imperative none of those is ever elected to the presidency!

^^^^

Weight discrimination is disgusting and that "doctor" is probably an unprofessional attention whore. Not to say I like Christie's response, but I understand that he got pissed off.

We should also of course never elect someone over 60, since they're more likely to die in office.

Actually, that's a good question: Who would statistically be more likely to die in office, given their weight, age, and sex, if elected in 2016...:

-Chris Christie, age 54 on Election Day 2016?
-Hillary Clinton, age 69 on Election Day 2016?

Obesity has tripled or so in the last 50 years. Genetics is definitely a lame excuse.

Since we don't have their labs, it's all just speculation, but I would have to say Christie. Hillary seems to lead a very healthy lifestyle (at least Bill does for sure), while Christie does not. Unless his cholesterol and blood pressure are well controlled by medication, he certainly looks like he could have a heart attack or stroke any second.

Also trying to say African Americans shouldn't be president because as a group they are more likely to die is faulty logic and a retarded thing to say. An individual becomes president, not a racial, ethnic, sexual orientation or age group.

Gov. Christie, your destiny awaits:

There's an opening for the "unofficial spokesman" for the Heart Attack Grill.

If Christie is going to have such thin skin about the subject he's definitely not ready for prime-time.

America cannot have a President who loses his temper every time someone says something unfavorable about him.

Christie is a politician from New Jersey.  The other person is a doctor.  Now given that information who do you think brought disrepute upon their profession?

The doctor needs to shut the f--k up.  The doctor has never examined Christie.  We are all aware 400 lbs is not a healthy weight.  We don't need some attention seeker to tell us that.  Doctors should have a code of conduct.

What's he going to do under the pressure of a Presidential campaign, or worse yet, under the tremendous pressures of the Presidency itself.

The consequences of what could potentially happen are frightening.

He has a sky high approval rating as a Republican in a Blue state so it may be kind of nice for him to bring his secret sauce to the White House.  I seem to remember Bush calmly invading Iraq.  I would much rather he lost his temper... and kept the troops home.

Weight discrimination is disgusting and that "doctor" is probably an unprofessional attention whore.

Lol.  I actually wrote the same thing at first but then I went back and reread the name of the doctor and realized she was a woman.  I didn't want one of the absentee mods to pop up and claim my use of those words proves I want to "kill all women."

Not to say I like Christie's response, but I understand that he got pissed off.

Well the level of unprofessionalism amongst doctors in the US has really gotten to a breaking point.  Maybe a president that tells off these little jerks is exactly what we need.

No, it's your posts implying that domestic violence is heee-lar-ree-oous that makes us think that, not the use of a well known (disarmed) turn of phrase.

Couldn't have said it better myself. My main problem with Christie is his attitude.

Obesity is genetic in the sense that we're built for a world where food isn't easy to obtain.  It's not healthy under circumstances.
