Saw this before Django Unchained: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6wk1XySBTk

That said this could end up being dumb fun if done right, especially as it seems it'll be rated R. Of course it could also easily end up with ~15% on RT. But still, LOL.

The Air Bud series will always win gold, silver, and bronze, only ever challenged by other movies in which animals play sports.

Or the Air Bud spinoff seiries, Air Buddies:

As for "edgy" fairy tales, most of them were pretty dark and edgy in their original forms.  But hands down, the dumbest fairy tale is "The Gingerbread Man."  Jack and the Beanstalk is also one of the worst, simply because instead of teaching kids a moral lesson, it teaches them an immoral one (that stealing is OK, at least in certain situations.)  That satisfies the second part of your question.
As for the first, I'm not sure I can think of dumb movie titles.

Why would you do this, Jeremy Renner? WHY?

Gemma Arterton is a babe though...

Milking his fame for every easy role he can get now. My only issue is the age difference is quite a bit beyond what one think of Hansel and Gretel as being, I don't see them being much more than 2-3 years apart. They're 15 years apart here.

I have no problem with taking older stories and fleshing them out. The original is not nearly as old, but the musical Wicked is awesome! Just as a counter-example. Stylistically, this looks to be a nightmare, though. Long story short. The problem is not with growing the story. It's how it's done.
