What are 'popovers'?

Swabian:  "Pfitzauf"

They're an eggy, thin batter spooned into a hot, greased muffin pan.  The eggs cause them to puff way up, creating a crispy outside and a hollow middle.. perfect for sopping soup or melting butter.

Yorkshire puddings are basically popovers... you use the drippings from the roast to grease the pan and the muffin cups are not as deep.

Is there such a thing as turkey Spam?

Yes  It's also about the the healthiest version there is as far as fat and sodium are concerned, but not the tastiest.

Spam is actually not nearly as bad as many make out.  Especially anybody who eats those gas station donuts that have "mechanically separated pork" in them.  Or Slim Jims.

Spam is stewed shoulder pork and ham with some potato starch and some sodium nitrate pressed into a can.  There's probably less scary about it than your typical ground beef.  Except that it's loaded with sodium and fat.. so it should be eaten in great moderation.
