Sneed always reads like fake news to me for some reason. But, yeah, predictable.

Weak. He let the Republicans pick his Sec of State, a loser from long ago, and potentially volunteered to give up a Senate seat. I'd have rather seen him pick Vermin Supreme.

Kerry was a top-contender from 2008 and would have likely been the nominee if Hillary hadn't accepted. He's qualified and - regardless of the level of GOP opposition or lack thereof - was a common-sense choice for Obama.

I never said he was unqualified. Just that he smells like failure. And allowing the minority opposition party to pick a cabinet post is super weak.

Am I the only one who thinks maybe John Kerry really wanted to be SOS and placed a phone call to his good buddy John McCain (remember he wanted him as VEEP in 2004)? Who in turn summoned his ally Graham and proceeded to use Benghazi to block Susan Rice? Think about it; Kerry gets SOS, Graham gets to beef up his anti-Obama chops ahead of 2014, and the GOP gets to run for the Senate seat in Mass.

Everybody wins. At least insofar as the players involved.

My Grandfather called me today with this very scenario in mind, and I paid it no attention. It's definitely possible, but not probable. John F. Kerry is not that kind if man. He wouldn't even take Bush-Cheney-Rove to task for the Swiftboating Ads.

Yeah, Scott Brown is not going to sneak by into office again; voters know what he's done and said now.

I think he's an excellent pick, but as I said before, Democrats had better get their act together for the Senate seat (and that should include President Obama himself campaigning for the eventual nominee).

I'm sure there are no shortage of Democrats who are capable of winning statewide in Massachusetts, but yeah, they can't take it for granted.

That's exactly what I'm afraid of. I hope Massachusetts Democrats have learned their lesson after Scott Brown. Does anyone know if Patrick will be appointing a caretaker like before or the effective nominee?

What's so great about Kerry as SoS?  I guess he has some diplomatic experience, but does he have the necessary leadership and organization skills?

He has at least as much as Hillary did in 2009, honestly.
