..or that too much attention was payed to social issues, like abortion, contraception (which is really a non-issue now, but for the sake of argument...), or gay marriage....

The Democrats did not demagogue on contraception or gay marriage. It was the Republicans, and it bit them in the a$$. So stop whining about it.

I'll admit, I was one of those kind of angry that they put so much focus on "women's issues" on the nights of the DNC that were supposed to be focused on economic issues and that Sandra Fluke of all people was given a speaking slot.

Why exactly? I think pointing out that the other party still lives in the Middle Ages is a pretty powerful argument.
