Why did Obama lose?  (if he loses)

One reason, he did not listen to the 23 million unemployed, instead offering lip service only but no solutions, the same as he did with the hurricane and flood victims, taking time out for a photo op, offering lip service, then abandoning them to the bureaucratic nightmare known as FEMA.

Another reason, though less likely, turnout amongst blacks is down, as there is an unemployment rate amongst blacks almost twice the national average.

These are simply two reasons.  Several others have been stated earlier in this thread.

Well, typically a presidential candidate loses because they receive fewer electoral votes than the other guy, though that has not happened yet for Obama so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Perhaps you're viewing some Republican parallel universe in which the election ended yesterday?

Obama lost largely because of the sluggish economy and a loss of faith from voters in his ability to handle the economic recovery. Certainly he did a lot in his term, but I suppose voters didn't see it as helping them. Well, I hope he can enjoy his retirement, and it would be nice if he could come back and teach at his alma mater... though I'm bound never to get into the class if there was one!
