That wasn't Romney's point. His point was that Obama's economic agenda wants to siphon money off the rich and let us live beyond our means, the way they did in the Mediterranean sector. Of course, it's an exaggeration, for one thing, and for another, many of the politicians pushing that agenda in the Mediterranean region were decidedly not leftists. Nevertheless, his point about increased social spending pushing our national debt far beyond 100 percent of our GDP is a valid one. Unfortunately, the Republicans are just as guilty of wanting to live beyond our means as the Democrats. They just have different spending priorities.
My friend, of course I know that's what Romney meant.
I said I had "mixed emotions" because, on the surface, the idiots would say, "Obama wants us to eat pasta, drink wine, become fashionistas and watch that God awful Soccer stuff?" That would make me think, "Hey, maybe it isn't so bad if Obama will make us like Italy…"
At which point, my chest thumping friends would blow an even bigger gasket.
