One of Romney's strongest positions is that he will repeal Obamacare.  And despite the fact that it barely passed (and only on procedural technicalities) in the first place, he'll probably need to control the Senate to get it repealed.  Will his coattails be long enough to make that happen?

Romney probably needs to win by about four or five points to have a Senate majority.

And even in that case, a repeal would probably be filibustered.

Coattails are overrated.

Particularly when you're being elected for a negative reason.  The Democratic senate candidates are all white.

LOL @ the Republicans thinking that they'll be able to repeal Obamacare with 50-51 votes. You don't think we'll do the same thing to you as you did to us? There's the potential to withhold funds, but Obamacare will never be repealed.

What coattails? If he wins it'll be by at most 1-2% nationally.

Highly unlikely.  Him winning Wisconsin would probably carry Thompson over the finish line, but that's about it.

No: if Romney wins, it will be a close, bitterly-fought 2000-style outcome, and I doubt his coattails will be long enough to carry any of the senate candidates to victory.

Democrats picked up 4 seats in 2000 when Bush won. Sometimes the Presidential election and the Senate and Gubernatorial elections have opposite results.

Yes.  4 seats, at least.

The GOP might take the Senate, but it won't be because of Romney's coattails but because of troubled GOP candidates in typically Republican states winning because of the (R) beside their name.

Mittens ~48% of the vote will grant him no coattails.
