Absolutely not. Same goes for Romney. Both lovers of power, haters of doing anything with power but extending it.

I generally throw my hands up on questions like this.  he was certainly much cooler about 30 years ago.

I suspect he's good to the few people he legitimately cares about. And yes, I'd say there's only a few.

Overall though, I do think he's been one of the most manipulative candidates in history. He's certainly very good at making "something" out of a whole lot of nothing.

Nah, you're wrong there.  Obama may or may not be 'good', but (and after all this is the rub), he's infinitely better than Romney.

Think of it this way, Naso - which one do you think despises his own supporters more?  Or, what do you think Romney thinks of the likes of you?

Sorry, I just think Obama is a narcissistic man. Most accounts suggest that he needed a big reality check before he was willing to recalibrate for tonight's debate. He believed himself to be the true authority on debating. So I gather that he's very interested in Number 1. Also, his record has shown that he's not willing to do the schmoozing that presidents often need to do. One could say he keeps a very small circle of friends and influence. So yeah, I think he's detached and only cares about a few people. So?

As for making something out of nothing and being manipulative... I'm not really interested in getting into a discussion about the politics of 2008. I will say, though, that the president would have been better served to wait before running for higher office. His '08 campaign was effectively about advertising a vague package that had little in it.
