It's been said that the winner of every presidential election since 1980 has been the one whose likeness sold more Halloween masks.  I for one will be watching to see who wins this important "bellwether." Post your guesses and speculation here!  My guess: Romney, by far.

Sorry for being Captain Obvious, but a Romney Halloween mask would easily scare me more. Tongue

People could just use old Reagan or Bush masks for Romney - they all look alike.

The Halloween stores and the local Target are carrying the presidential masks now.  22 bucks for a Mitt Romney/Barack Obama mask?  The ones at Target are cheaper, but don't use their actual names, just generic "Mr. President"-type stuff.

Romney looks so bland that it's hard to see him making a good mask.

Maybe, but for twenty-two bucks?  They can just re-use the old ones.

Well, I helped contribute to Romney's cause! I picked up the cheapo Target version of his mask.

Yesterday I was at the Halloween store with my two nephews. My 11 year old nephew saw a mask of Obama and then punched it, and so his 13 year old brother said "Hey you can't punch the President!" and so he then punched his brother. I didn't know political ideologies started that young...

Whoever (likely a white person) wears an Obama mask this Halloween better be careful not to cross the line into blackface

I went trick-or-treating as Bill Clinton one year during his presidency when I was a kid. My Dad had a Clinton mask and he liked to dress up as Clinton as a joke and could mimic his voice really well. People used to call our house and then hear what sounded like the President when they picked up the phone.

Keep the comments coming, folks!

The local Target appears to be out of Romney masks, but has an Obama mask left.  Not necessarily conclusive, since there weren't a ton of either.  Who knows how often they stock those things...

Romney? Obama? Boring.

I want to find one of those Richard Nixon masks. Those are truly frighting.

UPDATE: I went on Target's website, and their adult Mitt Romney mask is listed as "out of stock online."

Each candidate has two masks listed.  Each has a $15 one-size fits-most mask.  Obama also has a $25 deluxe adult mask listed.  The sold-out one is listed as a "adult Mitt Romney mask- one size fits most."  I don't know if it's similar to the deluxe Obama mask or if its the same as the cheaper one.  I will investigate further for the benefit of whoever's interested.

The all-time record seems to be Ronald Reagan masks outselling Walter Mondale masks 68-32%...However, I cannot find Mondale masks on eBay or any other place online. Would anybody out there have one I could add to my political mask collection?
