An 80-year old woman refurbished a fresco of "Ecce Homo" in the little village of Borja, in Aragón. IMHO, she improved it, what do you think?

I've been laughing since yesterday's night, and I can't stop =S. This woman is my new hero. She reminds me of Mr. Bean when he tries to repare "The mother of Whistler" in the film. LoL.

Honestly, the original wasn't anything particularly amazing, which is evident considering the way they allowed it to deteriorate.

The new one actually has a bit of personality, even if that wasn't the aim.

The triptych of the originals with it is amazing and is a work of art in itself.

Also, call girls may help....

As for the painting- was this intentional or a mistake?

The original was sentimentally valuable to the community even though everybody involved admitted it wasn't worth much in any objective sense.

Brilliant! This woman ought to be applauded. She seems to be a more able and amusing version of the Chapman brothers. (Remember their little adventure with a complete set of the Disasters of War?)

Intentional. But she was trying to fix the fresco, actually. She was trying to "make the church look more beautiful".

And here you have the artist, Cecilia Giménez:

While she's a little bonkers and a little senile and her improvements to the top half are clearly not in the spirit of the original creator (and that little scroll thingy at the bottom! I only just noticed that!) in all fairness she wasn't finished with it yet when they stopped her, and I guess the lower half of the face wouldn't have ended up looking quite as ridiculous as it now does otherwise.

And yes, definitely a Monchhichi. They were quite the rage among German children when I was about six years old. I had one.

This is terrible and I think the story itself as also terrible. I'd have only voted FF if I had a dark sense of humor. xD
