I decided to go to the "Solemn Mass" for the Feast of the Assumption (which in Cleveland's Little Italy, where my church in Cleveland is, is a 4-day long event).

When I arrived about 20 minutes early, it was super crowded and I heard one old lady at the door telling another old lady that Senator Santorum had just arrived. The other old lady asked, "Is he Catholic then?". The Mass was celebrated by the Bishop of Cleveland and I think had about 10 bishops present.

It was super crowded and Santorum was important enough to be in the procession afterward, so I never got a chance to shake his hand or anything, but it was still sort of exciting to randomly see Rick Santorum.

I had a friend who missed cross country practice to attend some dinner with Santorum. I met Pawlenty last Thursday myself.

I randomly met Charlie Crist at Publix too, and I saw a state Senator at some Mexican restaurant. Is this the political nerd equivalent of a normal person running into an actress?

It certainly is. My highlight will always be seeing Bill Clinton though. Having a union dad in the IAFF isn't always a walk in the park, but it sure has its perks.

I suppose. Years ago, I met a former provincial "representative" at the restaurant, too.
And my parents often met the federal "representative" at the grocery.

Romney campaign headquarters in the local area. I got an email from the campaign's website telling me he was in MI and gave the locations. I figured he was trying to please the campaign so he could get the VP slot. Guess it didn't work. Tongue Got his autograph and a pic with him.

One of my friends is Louise Slaughter's grandson, so she came by the school and talked about stuff.

I also have a friend who used to babysit T-Paw's kids. She told me they were well-behaved.

Just saw a picture of him on Facebook at the street festival from yesterday in Cleveland. The caption says he's serving up pizza even though it's cleat stromboli. I'll give his social media team a pass though. Wink

That's why you get on the email lists of various presidential candidates and get updates on their appearances! It's an incredible substitute for a life! Tongue

Yeah, until you start getting e-mails from Barack Obama's daughter's therapist's uncle. Tongue
