In the Presidential race? I'm kinda confused as to why and how it started...

Im not sure, but I too have noticed the unusual twist. And so early in the campaign too. Note that SoS/Earl and ILV/PBrunsel havent attacked anyone. Grin

I said Joe wasn't doing a good job, and gave some reasons why I thought that.  Joe thought my reasons were either completely made up or that at least I was distorting.  I think he's ineffectual, he thinks I'm a liar.  That's basically it.

The real fireworks don't happen between us, though.  They happen between our allies.

I'd also add that an unique circumstance has been added that hasn't existed since June of 2004.  Incumbency.

When there's an incumbent, there will be more criticisms of that person.  We've had four straight elections with no incumbent, and I'm not sure Joe was really ready to be sharply criticized in this way because most people don't remember the Junne 2004 campaign (It was kind of ugly too).  He definitely took it personally.

But like I said, attacks would figure less prominently in a race with no incumbent.

Kinda of like the Cold War... each of you has surrogate powers to do the real fighting for you.  Smiley

Competition is healthy, but as long as it doesn't descend into a cross-board war.

Had I chosen to run for reelectio we would have had a real negative campaign last February. I had the attack ads and speeches written up by Christmas, and they were pretty bitter and nasty.

Makes me glad I didn't run for reelection actually. Smiley

As long as it doesn't lead to the dissolution of fantasy elections and exploding ballot boxes, I'm all for a raucus campaign. Even if most of it does happen behind the scenes.

Joe being incompetent and Ford calling him out on it.

That was very helpful, Jake.
