Pew Global just came out with an interesting poll of European's thoughts on the EU and other European countries. There's a lot of great stuff in there, but I thought it was interesting that the Germans are apparently the only ones who think the EU has helped their economy, and 80% of them approve of how Merkel has handled the EU situation. Apparently Poland LOVES austerity and the Italians want more EU control over their budget. Oh, and Germany is the most popular country in Europe with everyone but the Greeks, who hate it. Merkel herself also gets high marks from everyone.

You can find the poll here: http://www.pewglobal.org/2012/05/29/european-unity-on-the-rocks/

The best part of the whole poll is this chart:

Note Italians calling themselves the most corrupt country in the EU and the Greeks very high opinion of themselves.

Interesting that Germany is considered by all to be the least corrupt.

Obviously Germany has very little....but I'd wager that Scandinavia has even less.

I love that stereotype thing to bits. Including the hilarious racism in a couple of places.

I remember at least some of the Scandinavian countries being ranked far lower in terms of corruption perception.

And, lol @ Italians saying Italy is the most corrupt.

The corruption/hardworking part is funny because they essentially work as proxies. All the sh**tty countries are essentially trying to pass the blame to their leaders.

If the thing with Germany being the least corrupt country is true it's perhaps the result of the very low tolerance the media and the populace has for corruption. Politicians usually resign over some completely inane stuff over here. You're inclined to say: You call that bullsh**t a scandal?
