Been reflecting a bit about America's general political culture, and the regional (and other) variants of it.
There's this one explanation (forgot who came up with it) that America actually has three distinct political cultures, descended from the different groups of European immigrants who came here. They are Moralistic culture, where politics is about working towards the common or public good; the Individualistic culture, where politics is about promoting individual economic opportunity; and the Traditionalist culture, where politics is about preserving existing power relations and traditional social norms.
My question is, if we are to take these cultures as a given, how does that affect American politics in general, both past and present?
