Romney will get at least a plurality of Super Tuesday delegates, so who will have the 2nd biggest batch?

I think Gingrich.  I like Silver's analysis, although I think Alaska and Tennessee will be kinder to Santorum than he predicts.

And first will be who?  Romney's already guaranteed close to 85 (probably more) with VA, VT, and MA alone.

I like how this poll automatically assumes he's going to win today. Again, it's invalid. Mitt should be an option here.

You're right--out of fairness and the potential for politics to be chaotic, he should be.  However, I'd be willing to bet a large amount of money that Romney will finish in first.

Gingrich will be second. He's going to plunder the state with the most delegates.

Excellent Jinx thread.

If Romney doesn't win the most delegates, I will videotape myself singing "God Save the Queen" in a falsetto voice.

Well, yes, in those uncontested areas and in states where Romney's above 50%.

Romney maybe 180-220
Gingrich maybe 70-100
Santorum maybe 50-80
Paul maybe 50 ?

The above looks reasonable.

Romney's worst case scenario (only winning MA, VT and VA) still has him well ahead in delegates for the day. The real race is for 2nd place. But if you can't handle that, then consider this a hypothetical question. ...If Romney gets the most delegates, who comes in second.

My money is on Newton Leroy coming in second.

It could be Paul of Pittsburgh. Paul could win 3 states and keep Mitt from getting all those VA delegates.

Santorum, technically, could be a Pennsylvanian, though frankly, I am more Pennsylvanian than Paul, Gingrich, or Santorum.  I have an ancestor that had to take an oath to George II to get in.  Wink
