Anderson Cooper on  CNN today

Polling showing Obama falling behind Romney in key swing states.

Unemployment expected to rise to 8.9% by the fall.

Just sayin'.

What polling? A poll today showed Obama and Romney tied in Missouri, a McCain state.

I'm merely quoting Anderson Cooper.  I don't know the specifics.

And if you can't believe Anderson Cooper, who can you believe?

- There is no "hope and change" this time
- There is no financial crisis to blame on Bush/Republicans this time
- There is no old, unattractive, erratic McCain this time
- There is no Palin to mock this time

You would have to think that the loss of the above four factors will cost Obama/Biden at least three or four percentage points compared to 2008, and give his Republican opponent (an attractive, articulate, aboveboard candidate in Mitt Romney) a boost of at least three or four percentage points over McCain/Palin. That leaves the race at about 49-49 AT LEAST. Obama will be lucky to roughly win the Gore states + FL or OH, which is probably his only chance.

It is not looking good for Team Obama. And if you think John Edwards/Ted Kennedy-style populist rhetoric is the answer, BRING IT ON!

Polls before the GOP nomination is settled (officially) are functionally meaningless.

Most voters haven't given Romney vs. Obama any significant thought.

Yes, I am aware polling this far out is meaningless, although it is indicitive of public perceptions and opinions at a point in time.

However, I merely wanted to pass along the article from CNN.

There is of course absolutely no citation of actual polling to support this claim, at least, not in this thread.

I'll take our actual database of polls to be more factual about what the polls show over "Anderson Cooper says the polls show...."

Winfield is amazing, but nobody is amazing enough to link us to Anderson Cooper's show right at this minute.

We have a database of polls right here on the website that doesn't back up Anderson Cooper's assertion.

I am sure the transcript for this CNN program is available somewhere, if anyone wants to bother looking for it.

I would think it would be up to the person who started the thread to provide the documentation to prove their point.

A database of fuzzy math is more apt. Anybody who thinks Obama is carrying Missouri is completely off their rocker. He'll be lucky to carry Michigan after Romney's mean machine is finished with him. Gingrich is just the practice punching bag in preparation for the real clobbering.

Hope? Nope.

I'm really not trying to prove anything.  I am simply passing on what was said on this segment of the CNN broadcast.

And welcome to the forum.

Well, according to the polls, the ones asserting that Obama can carry Missouri are the people of Missouri.

The last swing states I saw polled were Ohio and Missouri...and Obama was improving in those states.

I hope you realize that even though I'm going to continue to strenuously disagree with your positions on pretty much everything of substance for the remainder of this election, this comment officially means that I now consider you awesome. Just not in the way you consider Mitt Romney awesome. More like how I consider my Uncle Joe awesome, even though Uncle Joe, as somebody who used to feed his dog margarine until the dog got too fat, is probably a worse pet owner than Mitt Romney.
