All I can say is.... WOW

I am not a fan of many musicals but this one was a helluva good time, found myself bouncing along with every song- and I don't even like ABBA!

Has anyone seen the movie or the play?

I haven't seen Mamma Mia yet because I don't like Abba and this perspective is scaring me off. But you seems to believe it's worth to see anyway.

Mamma Mia killed Broadway for me. I was giving theater a chance in high school and saw several decent plays, despite my aversion to it in general. Then I saw Wicked and just felt irritated by the whole thing. Then as a family thing the moms decided to go to Carmine's for dinner and then see Mamma Mia, which I couldn't pass up...Carmine's is some of the most outrageously amazing Italian food in the city. But then Mamma Mia took theater far beyond irritating. I found it offensively terrible. I really wanted to leave. I actually hated it and it's not difficult to entertain me. AND I even liked a few Abba songs at one point! Bothersome...very, very bothersome...

Swedes had to see it and like it and I patriotically support ABBA. However, the movie was so extremely geared towards their main fanbase (women and gay people) that it didn't really speak to me.

My mom really liked the movie, but that's because it seemed like it was made just for her, what with the ABBA and Pierce Brosnan.
