2000: the only difference is that Donald Trump runs as Independent, like Ross Perot in 1992.

I don't see Trump's constituency. In a down economy he could point to his business experience, but in 2000, people wouldn't have the taste for him.

Trump would siphon enough support from Bush to provide Gore a victory in Florida, throwing the election to the Democrats.  No brainer.

Exactly,  however  I think that Trump would have done Bush enough damage in New Hampshire for him to lose that state as well.

It is worth noting that the 1992 would have been much , much closer had Perot not run, in fact you can't rule out a narrow Bush Sr. win in that scenario.
