*WMS steps to the podium on the raised dais at Civic Plaza, in Downtown Albuquerque*

Greetings to the citizens of Atlasian District 4! Yes, that includes all of you who voted against me. Smiley I stand here tonight to declare that after a tumultuous campaign and an even more tumultuous vote, I have finally won the Senate Seat for District 4!

*cheering, although the comment "like we didn't know that already" is heard from some people as well*

I would like to extend my thanks to all those who voted for me, from the Constitutional Unionists to the Republicans to the Southern Republicans to the Independents and to my own Freedom Party members. I would also like to thank all the fine Atlasians who supported my candidacy, from Governor Ernest to Senator StatesRights to Governor Wildcard to Senator StevenNick to Lt. Governor Nation to incoming Governor ILikeVerin, and to any others who I may have forgotten in my post-Christmas shopping fog.

*polite laughter*

Thank you for your support, and I promise I will do all in my power not to let you down!

*more cheering*

I also pledge to those who voted against me that I will do my best to represent you as well. Maybe I can get a vote or two from you next time around. Wink

*laughter, combined with "Don't hold your breath" comments*

I would specifically like to thank Senator Harry and Democratic Hawk for their gracious concessions that ended the long debate in D4. Your Christmas packages of El Pinto Salsa are in the mail in recognition...and to give you two a taste of the Southwest. Let's have a round of applause for them!

*more clapping*

I would like to express my gratitude to all those who congratulated me on my victory and expressed confidence in my abilities, from across the political spectrum. Thank you for your nonpartisan words of welcome, and may I live up to your expectations!

*cheering*

I promise to pursue the policies I mentioned as a candidate. I will work to create a mechanism to allow states to move between Regions with the approval of all involved. I will work to bring meaning and power back to the Regions, and will be respectful of Regional rights. I will work with my fellow Freedom Party member Senator-elect Supersoulty to reduce abortions by giving support to women in need. I will work to bring hope to distressed areas of Atlasia in conjunction with Senator-elect Supersoulty and Senator-elect Al. I will work to support a strong military and an intelligent foreign policy. I will definitely work to improve the electoral laws, since they clearly need revising!

*cheers and laughter, and many enthusiastic nods from the audience*

I offered to bring my experience on electoral laws to the service of Atlasia in my campaign, although I never expected that my own Senate race would be the prime example of why it was needed!

*more laughter*

Finally, I wish to extend my best wishes to all my fellow Senators and to the President - who I remember from our long ago run for Midwest Governor! - Vice President, and the Cabinet. Let's work together to better Atlasia! God Bless Atlasia, and good night!

*more cheers, and the mariachis I hired the last time around start playing again as the audience heads toward the drinks*

And on a final note not in the speech, Fantasy Elections and Fantasy Politics are supposed to be fun, so everyone just relax, OK? I certainly had fun in this campaign, and would have if I had lost as well - which has happened before. Smiley

LOL! I had the best of intentions...after all, this salsa is approved of by no less than G.W. Bush himself! But maybe I should make it mild or medium, for those folks who aren't familiar with spicy Southwestern salsa. Smiley

First the menudo and chicarrones, then the salsa...I've gotta be careful what I suggest to impressionable forum members! Wink

Congratulations. Smiley  While Harry was a good friend of mine, I nevertheless look forward to working with you in the Senate.

If Harry continues to go around with that Hillary/Bayh poster on his signature, I may never vote for him again.  Smiley

I have already been blinded nearly twice by seeing her scary face on his posts around here and I fear if I have to hear her talk (scream) again, I may go deaf as well.

No human being (or Muslim) should ever have to endure torture like that.

LOL!!! I was waiting for someone to comment on the banner.  It's mainly for shock value; I'd vote for Bayh in the primaries over Hillary.

But, WMS--congrats on the win and thanks for the salsa!

Yes, Bayh would be soooooooo much better than Hillary...

And thanks for the kind words, Harry! Kiki A tip on the salsa - if it's too hot, drink milk, not water, since water doesn't help at all!
