The thing with Romney is I've yet to see any evidence he can step up to the plate and win a serious contest. Remember his campaign in 2008 was a long string of disappointments. Iowa, New Hampshire, Florida, California...and he didn't win Michigan so much as McCain lost it. He probably more second chances than any other candidate in modern history. That's probably because fundamentally his campaign apartaus and setup WAS impressive, his fundraising and caucus organizing were top notch. But even that well-oiled machine failed to deliver when it mattered.
This time around he has a few more things going for him (more establishment support, opponents being mostly jokes), but he still hasn't given me any reason to put faith in him.
